Simple Retrograde Kidney Stone A flexible ureteroscope is used to access the kidney (retrograde). Using a 200 micron core fiber, laser energy (10 Hz, 1.0 J) is used to break up the stone. Once the stone is fragmented, a basket is used to retrieve the remaining particles. Clip Duration: 52 sec Real Download: Low Res (0.9 MB) | High Res (2.3 MB)
Percutaneous Staghorn Calculus This patient had staghorn calculus filling the entire kidney. Two ESWL/USL treatments cleared 80% of the stone burden. This third and final procedure was completed using a holmium laser. The laser was used to fragment larger pieces so they could be retrieved with a stone basket. The smallest fragments were then "vacuumed" up. Clip Duration: 3 mins 54 sec Real Download: Low Res (4.0 MB) | High Res (10.0 MB)
Bladder Tumor Resection A semi-rigid ureteroscope was used to access the bladder with the patient under topical anesthesia. Using a 200 micron core fiber, laser energy (5 Hz, 0.5 J) is used to excise the tumors. The laser was also used to cauterize the tissue after excision.
